Gender at Design Conferences, 2018-2020
Since 2018, I initiated, led, and wrote an investigative report analysing the gender breakdown at major design conferences for AIGA Eye on Design. The two annual reports include research by feminist design collective notamuse, who I collaborated with to source the survey’s data. While the data that we collected is not intersectional in its sole focus on gender, we strove to be intersectional in our analysis of the numbers and in-depth report. Ultimately, the goal has been to act strategically in order to spark conversation around diversity and inclusion in design at large.
